Mr. Nakanishi concentrates his practices in the areas of business and commercial transactions and public utilities. He also has a broad range of experience in real estate matters as well as governmental relations and regulations and business organizations. Mr. Nakanishi represents and advises clients from multinational corporations to individuals in the acquisition or divestiture of capital stock or assets of wide array of businesses providing goods and/or services in numerous areas, including technology, professional, transportation, utility, entertainment, broadcasting, franchise, manufacturing, distribution, and retail. Mr. Nakanishi represents and advises clients in the negotiation, documentation and implementation of a diverse array of contracts, involving technology development, manufacturing, wholesale, retail, operating, distribution, franchising, leasing, employment, and consulting arrangements covering a variety of goods and services. He represents and advises clients in transactions involving the purchase, sale, and leasing of real property. Mr. Nakanishi advises business clients regarding various issues arising in their day-to-day operations. In the public utilities area, Mr. Nakanishi represents and advises public utility companies and common carriers providing electric, telecommunication and transportation services in rate, regulatory and other administrative proceedings, appeals from administrative decisions, on state and federal laws regulating utilities, in contract negotiations, and on general corporate issues. He has represented clients before government agencies of the State of Hawaii including commisions, departments and administrative boards in the registration, licensing and permitting of business operations in the State. Mr. Nakanishi also represents and advises clients in structuring, forming, and documenting their business organizations, as well as in the dissolution, liquidation and /or reorganization of their operations in the State of Hawaii.


Mr. Nakanishi was born in Selfridge, Michigan. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Hawai`i in 1983, with distinction, and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Davis in 1986, Order of the Coif. From 1986 to 1987, he was a law clerk to Judge Robert Boochever of the United States Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit. Mr. Nakanishi worked for the Los Angeles office of Jones Day Reavis & Pogue and was formerly a partner at Goodsill Anderson Quinn & Stifel and Catalani Nakanishi & Caliboso LLP before joining Rush Moore LLP A Limited Liability Law Partnership as a partner in 2003.
