Kelly
Henshaw, Hal Conroy, and Don Hamilton were the founders of what
is today Rush Moore LLP A
Limited Liability Law Partnership.
M.B.
"Kelly" Henshaw was originally admitted to practice
in Hawai`i on November 10, 1916 and had long been engaged in private
practice as a sole practitioner. In 1946 he hired two young lawyers
who had recently completed their military obligations: Harold
W. Conroy and Don C. Hamilton. They became the firm's first associates,
marking the beginning of the present firm. The firm practiced
under the name of Law Offices of M. B. Henshaw at the old Hawaiian
Trust Company Building on King Street.
When
Hal Conroy and Don Hamilton became partners in 1953, the firm
name became Henshaw, Conroy & Hamilton. That same year
the firm's offices moved to the Gas Company Building on Bishop
Street, which was followed by a move to the old First Hawaiian
Bank Building in 1964. The year 1970 marked the end of the
firm's first era with the passing of Kelly Henshaw. Also in
that year Richard Morry joined the firm. Walter Beh, II
joined in 1971.
In
1971, the firm moved to the Amfac Center as one of the original
tenants, and the following year, the firm name became Conroy,
Hamilton, Gibson, Nickelsen & Rush. In 1977, Hal Conroy retired
and "Conroy Hamilton" became "Hamilton Gibson",
short for Hamilton, Gibson, Nickelsen, Rush & Moore.
In
1985, the "Rush Moore" name 1st appeared. The firm
added a Kona office in 1999. In March 2002, Rush Moore moved
to its present offices in the Pacific Guardian Center. In 2005,
the name of the firm was changed to the present Rush Moore
LLP A Limited Liability Law Partnership and the firm celebrated
its 60th birthday in March 15, 2006. The name of the firm and
its personnel have changed from time to time, but some things
have remained the same. The firm has always had a diverse group
of people with differing backgrounds and viewpoints, as befits
a business in Hawai'i, working together to serve our clients
and the community. The firm has people who were born and raised
in Hawai'i and those who moved to Hawai'i from the mainland,
and graduates of the University of Hawai'i's William S. Richardson
School of Law and numerous other law schools.
